TENTS &
STOVES
At International
Mountain Equipment we stock the finest three and four season tents
available.
Our tent selection
is divided into traditional double wall tents and high performance single
wall tents. A single wall tent will usually run 50% less weight than
a comparable traditional two wall tent. Another great feature is the
fact that the poles can be put up or taken down from inside of the
tent. For example, you arrive in camp or on a ledge and the weather
is bad. All you have to do is get in the tent. If the wind is
a problem, just use it as a bivy sack until the wind dies down. The
main disadvantage of a single wall tent is comfort and some
condensation. You should always pick the smallest tent you can live
with when you pick a single wall.
Double wall tents on
the other hand should be viewed from the comfort level. For general
mountaineering, use a double wall tent when space and weight allow.
Double wall tents are generally larger inside and have a little less
condensation problem. We recommend these tents when you can afford a
little more weight or expect to spend long periods of time in the
tent.
We also carry Bivy-sacks in regular, hooped and with tie-in loops.
